Most student visa delays come from missing, unattested or inconsistent documents. Every country and university has its own list, but most applications from Pakistan use the same core set. Use this checklist to prepare early.
For your university application
- Valid passport — check it is valid for your whole course; many countries expect extra validity
- Academic documents — Matric, Intermediate / A-Levels, and your degree and transcripts for postgraduate study
- English test results — IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or Duolingo, or an MOI letter where accepted
- Personal statement or SOP — why this course, this university and this country
- CV and recommendation letters — usually needed for master’s programs
- Language certificate — for courses taught in another language, such as French (DELF) or German
For your student visa
- Offer or acceptance letter — such as a UK CAS, a US I-20 or a Canadian letter of acceptance
- Proof of funds — bank statements, sponsor letters and evidence of where the money came from
- Tuition payment receipt — many countries ask for at least the first instalment
- Health insurance or medical tests — depending on the country (for example, a TB test for the UK)
- Attested documents — HEC and MOFA attestation where required
- Police character certificate — required by some countries, such as Cyprus
- Accommodation proof — often required in Europe
- Visa application form, photos and fee
Common mistakes to avoid
- Unexplained deposits — a large, sudden deposit in your bank account without documents explaining it often raises questions.
- Weak study plans — your SOP should clearly link your past studies, your chosen course and your career goals.
- Late attestation — HEC and MOFA attestation can take time, so start early.
- Inconsistent details — names, dates and grades should match across every document.
- Applying too late — visa appointments fill up quickly before main intakes.

Visa decisions are made by embassies and immigration authorities, and no consultant can guarantee a visa. A careful document review can still help you avoid avoidable mistakes.
